Around New York

Here is some cool stuff that I saw around the city the other day.

Consider these first two a cover of a favorite.

Here are some from a cloudy day in Madison Square Park.

And a couple from the subway for good measure.

This is speed chess. I wanted a long enough exposure to see the fast movement of their hands, but the lighting was bad, so I had to settle for this one.

Whoosh

This was one of the first long exposure experiments I did. I took it in RAW and I just converted it to JPEG now. This is the street outside of my friend's room in Muss at around 1 AM. Shooting at night in the city is a nightmare if you want the long exposures that you need to pick up colors in low light. The street and car lights always flood the image. By going above street level, in this case only three floors, gets you above the glare and makes the best images.

This was a 6 second exposure taken as a car went by.

Around Teaneck

I really like the drops of rain in these.

The symmetry of this house and the landscaping struck me. Two walkways? What the heck were they thinking?

The bottom flag is the revolutionary "Don't Tread On Me" Snake.

The Hackensack River Project

The last day of vacation, I took a walk down the block to the Hackensack River. These pictures uploaded backwards.

The top one of these is a shorter exposure, the bottom one is longer. I like them both.

Down On Grampa's Farm...

On Chol Hamoed, I went apple picking with my dad and Yaron to a farm in Rockland County. There was so much to shoot. In addition to apples, winter squash, gourds, and even late tomatoes are in season. They also had some corn, which they said was local, but I have my doubts.

There were tons of Chassidim from Monsey there on family outings for Chol Hamoed. The kids were really cute. I took some shots of them, trying to make sure that they wouldn't notice and think that I was creepy.

My dad, looking like a Florida's Natural grower.

Princeton "Petticoat" Junction

I'm back from my Sukkot break. It was truly needed.

My first fiasco of the break was an impromptu roadtrip to Baltimore for Shabbos with Horn and Kelin. I had a ride with Horn, only it was from Twin Rivers, New Jersey. Since I also don't know where the crap that is, I took a train from Newark for an hour to East Windsor. I was waiting in the station while the boys were either lost or buying obscene amounts of Slurpees, or maybe a little of both. This is the shuttle train between East Windsor and Princeton.

Also at the train station. No caption needed.

The famous stairs of East Windsor, NJ.

What you see from here...

So this is what a blog is.

This is a photoblog where I'll post some shots that I've taken and spew about it until I think that I've had enough.

This is going to be a work in progress. Bear with me while I figure out what the hell I'm doing.
